PERMANENT MAKE-UP | BROWS
Permanent make-up (PMU), traditionally known as micro-pigmentation or permanent cosmetic tattooing, is the implantation of pigment in the upper dermal layer of your skin (papillary dermis) by using specially made fine micro-needles to create beautiful eyebrows.
The techniques I offer here at Eye Love Skin & Brows are: Microblading, PowderBrows, and Combo Brows. Additionally, I offer tattoo removal services for clients who are unhappy with their current brows, small body tattoos, eyeliner, or lip liner/blush tattoos.
Permanent makeup can be a good option for the vision challenged who have difficulty applying their cosmetics and others with dexterity related conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and busy people who simply don’t have time to spend applying and refreshing makeup throughout the day and evening.
Interest in this service spans the young to the more mature; those who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. It is especially valuable to people who can’t wear traditional make up due to allergies and skin sensitivities; active people who want to look their best for sports activities, and those who don’t want to worry about “sweating off” or reapplying make up.
Permanent makeup results can last anywhere from one to three years depending on chosen style/saturation, after care, personal lifestyle, skin product usage, sun exposure, and individual skin type.
An important tip is to always apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) to the brow area once it is completely healed if you are going to be outdoors, as exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of pigment. Touch ups are recommended when it is difficult to maintain the shape of your brows and the edges/borders cannot be seen well.
No. We will go over all details in the beginning of your permanent makeup appointment, but if you have previously tattooed brows, you must send photos or come in for a consult to determine which service is best for you. I offer consults over video call as well.
All permanent makeup procedures usually consist of a two-step process; an initial session followed by a 6 to 12 week touch up session to complete the final look.
Your private, one-on-one initial brow treatment will take around 3-3.5 hours. A 4-hour appointment time is booked to ensure plenty of time is given for additional questions and/or if breaks are needed. Clients will never be rushed and all treatments are in a private, one-on-one studio with complete privacy and full, undivided attention.
My permanent makeup procedure process includes a thorough consultation with customized shaping using the Golden Phi Ratio of balanced proportions to map out each client’s unique facial features. Brow shape pre-draw and color selection must be agreed upon before the permanent make-up process begins. The following 6 to 12 week perfecting touch up appointment usually is a one to two hour booking.
All of my clients will be sent home with a complimentary aftercare kit along with detailed aftercare instructions to follow. Failure to follow these instructions may result in loss of pigment and poor healed results. For pre and post care info, please click here.
Minimal to no pain! However with most procedures on the skin, it is expected that there may be some minor discomfort. A topical anesthetic is used on the skin to ensure that you are comfortable during the entire procedure. Please note that there may be heightened sensitivity during your menstrual cycle. Most clients are surprised that simple tweezing, threading or waxing is more uncomfortable than the procedure itself. Some clients actually fall asleep! You are in gentle hands.
Yes! Medical grade liquid sterilizer is used to sterilize all implements used. Microblades are disposable, one time use, gamma ray sterilized, and vacuum sealed for your protection. All needles are single use, gamma ray sterilized, professional quality with membrane specifically made by Phibrows for cosmetic tattooing. All machines, cords, and bottles are properly wrapped in a disposable plastic barrier. Cavi Wipes (EPA approved cleansing wipes) are used between clients on ALL surfaces. Proper sterilization/sanitation and HIGH standards of cleanliness are GUARANTEED at Eye Love Skin & Brows.
All pigments used are a mixture of synthetic and organic pigment components of the highest quality. Phibrows professional pigment is the most stable formula on the market and is used at my studio. What makes this pigment formulation so special is the fact that iron oxides and synthetics are mixed together to get the best performance out of them. The pigments are certified heavy metal free, vegan, and certified cruelty free. This formula uses red iron oxides, while black and yellow are synthetic. The result is a pigment which does not fade into an unattractive grayish purple or red! Once injected into the skin, the color immediately has a warm hue.
Detailed list of ingredients for the pigment used:
Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Hamamelis Virginiana Extract, CI 77492*, CI 200310, CI 77266, PVP, PEG-8, Isopropyl Palmitate, Potassium Sorbate.
No! Permanent makeup is done to enhance what you already have and to make your eyebrows look as natural as possible. Permanent makeup is a great solution for people who have over-plucked their eyebrows or who have very thin/sparse eyebrows and want to accentuate their looks. It is not necessary, nor recommended for a client to get rid of any natural hair he or she may already have.
No. Permanent makeup itself will not cause scarring. What can cause scarring after a procedure is picking at the healing skin. This is why it is extremely important for you to NOT pick at any scabs or flaking skin after you’ve had a permanent make-up procedure. Picking could result in the loss of pigment as well as scarring.
In some cases, it is possible to go over another artist’s work, but I require a consult or a clear photo/video of your current brows. Do not book an appointment without prior consultation if you have existing work by another artist. Please send clear photos to eyeloveskinandbrows@gmail.com for evaluation BEFORE booking. All new clients must book for initial procedures if the artist approves to work over the existing work.
Perfecting touch-ups are for existing clients ONLY. The first touch-up session (also known as the perfecting touch-up appointment) is to be booked 6 to 12 weeks after your initial session. To ensure availability, it is recommended to plan and book in advance. Please note that if your initial perfecting touch-up session is not scheduled within 6-12 weeks, an additional charge will apply as the amount of work is increased due to natural fading of pigment over time.
To schedule a free consultation prior to your procedure, please click here. Oftentimes, the consultation and the permanent make-up procedure are done on the same day. If you have existing brow work from another artist, please contact me beforehand at eyeloveskinandbrows@gmail.com for a consultation to discuss your options.
2 weeks prior to treatment … NO waxing, tweezing, threading, electrolysis, tanning/active sun exposure, stop all chemical facial exfoliants (retinol, glycolics, AHA’s, BHA’s) chemical peels, Botox or fillers around the area. Also discontinue any hair growth serums/prescriptions.
48 hours prior to treatment … NO alcohol, Advil, Aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil or anything that thins your blood. NO eyelash or eyebrow tinting.
24 hours prior to treatment … NO caffeine (this also includes caffeine free coffee).
On the treatment day … NO strong perfumes or other scents. Please wear socks and comfortable clothing. Some clients wish to bring headphones and their favorite music. You may come in with your regular, everyday makeup so Verena can get an idea of your cosmetic style … or if you prefer to arrive with a clean face, that is ok as well.

You can resume normal activities but keeping in mind after care instructions. The procedure area may be sore and slightly red for the next few hours but not necessarily swollen for eyebrow procedures. It is not uncommon for the procedure area to feel tender and/or dry for the next few days. Your new brows will appear bolder and more pigmented within the next couple of days which is normal and all part of the healing process. Please be sure to read the pre & post care section before booking to plan for your appointment accordingly.
At the request of the client, a patch test can be done prior to the appointment to be sure no allergies are present. All patch tests must be completed no sooner than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment.
We will thoroughly measure and shape your brows before doing the actual procedure. The needle won’t touch your brows until you are 100% happy with the shape. We will discuss my color recommendations at the time of the procedure.
You may wear make-up AROUND your brows. Do NOT wear makeup ON your eyebrows for at least 10-14 days.
About 10 days for the scabbing/flaking phase, but 4-6 full weeks for the color to finalize.
No, never, ever!! All single-use tools are disposed in a sharps container. We do not reuse any of our needles, cartridges, or razors.

- Microblading is done using a handheld tool with ultra-fine needles to create hair-like strokes.
- Powder Shading is done using a permanent makeup machine to create a powdery effect that has a filled-in brow look.
- Microblading resembles actual brow hair without the makeup look, while Powder Shading resembles the look of brow makeup.
- Combo Brows is a combination technique of Microblading and Powder Shading, which can be completely personalized to match your features (P.S. This is my favorite brow look!)
Click on each section below for more detailed info on each technique.
Microblading
Powder Shading
Combo Brows
Powder Shading and Combo Brows give more fullness to the brows.
Clients wanting a more filled-in effect typically choose one of these techniques over microblading.
Also, microblading alone doesn’t always blend well enough with the client’s natural hair, therefore, customized target shading may be needed to create a more natural and fuller appearance.
While microblading can provide beautiful results for some, it isn’t always the best option for other clients. For instance, clients with oily skin and large pores do not have the best pigment retention with microblading strokes, thus healing to look blurrier than those who have normal or dry skin and smaller pores.
Powder Shading is done with a permanent makeup machine by creating a solid, full look at the tails of the brows (the end of the brow closest to the temple). As we reach the head of the brow (brow area towards the eye), the pigment is gradually faded lighter until it beautifully fades out into the skin, creating an ombre (gradient) effect.
Combo Brows is the same technique as Powder Shading with the exception that it is paired with microblading strokes towards the front of the brows and gradually fades into a powdery look. This is the most desired look!
For individuals who have very light, sparse, or no brows, microblading alone may not result in enough depth (to give the brow a 3D effect).
Customized target shading can be added on to the microblading procedure to create more fullness and depth.
~ My specialty is creating the most natural looking brows ~
If your skin type is normal to dry, then microblading and microblading with some added shading yield the most natural look.
Powder Shading and Combo Brows resemble more of a filled-in, powdery, makeup look; yet still looking very natural once healed. This technique resembles a beautiful and soft, yet filled-in brow look.
